Someone told me once that summer is a slow time for pastors and church activities. Wow! Was that person wrong. Summer now is a very busy time for pastors, church staff, and all the laymen in the church! One of the busy events of summer is our annual District Assembly for the North Central Ohio District. District Assembly is a time when the churches around the district send elected delegates to hear reports from our pastors and to conduct the business of the district. It is a busy (sometimes boring, sometimes delightful) two days of meetings. One of the things that District Assembly does is to remind me that we are a part of a denomination that reaches around the world. The Church of the Nazarene is now in 151 world areas taking the Good News of Jesus Christ to people who need to have an encounter with him. Our General Superintendent reminded us of places around the globe where the Gospel message is being presented by missionaries and teachers in the Church of the Nazarene. District Assembly is also a time when we hear reports of what God is doing in the churches on our district. Reports of victories won, of battles fought against Satan, of new strategies being implemented by churches to reach their community, of miracles taking place in the lives of men and women, and of the faithfulness of God His people called Nazarenes. Yes, it has been a busy and tiring week but I come away from a week of District Assembly happy that I am part of the family of God and that I am a member of the Church of the Nazarene. |
